Since 2022 I have been involved as a curator for TEDx Constanța. For me this role is about responsibility and trust. Curators select, analyze, and decide who steps on the red circle. The people we invite on stage are not just speakers, they are leaders. They lead by example, they share real work and real struggle, and they speak with honesty in front of the community. Every invitation is a promise that their story will matter and that the audience will leave with something true, something they can keep in mind.
When we choose speakers, we look at what they have actually done in real life, not only what they say. We review public work, nominations from the community, and messages we receive from people who believe a certain voice needs to be heard. We look for one strong idea, a problem they faced and solved or are still working on, a way of thinking that can help others. We also try to build a stage that looks like the community itself, different ages, different fields, different backgrounds. Everything in this process is done by volunteers, but we treat it with professional standards and a lot of passion, because the audience gives us their time and trust.
The themes of TEDx Constanța guide this work every year and help us ask the right questions for that moment in time. Over the years our editions carried themes like Comfort of Ignorance, Origins, Adaptability, The New Now, Unlocked, Perspectives, Breaking the Pattern, We Are Legacy, Life How To, Out of the Box. These are not just titles for posters, they shape how we build the event, how we invite people to speak, and what kind of conversation we open for the community.
TEDx Constanța is, at its heart, a community project. It is a place where someone in the audience can listen and think quietly to themselves, this is also my story, I am not alone. That moment is the reason we do this. I believe leadership is not only about giving instructions, it is about standing in the light and saying here is what I have learned, take what helps you and make it yours.
